Carlotta believes that Peterborough can lead the way for practices and policies in sustainability that protect our economy, small businesses, and green spaces so that citizens can live a healthy, productive life.

MEET CARLOTTA JAMES

Carlotta James is a mother, small business owner, community builder, long distance runner, volunteer, and environmental advocate. She has lived in Peterborough with her husband Tim Haines and son Salvador Haines since 2013. For the past seven years, Carlotta has dedicated her time and energy to building beautiful natural landscapes through her business Three Sisters Natural Landscapes. She has also advocated for the protection of pollinators through the community group Peterborough Pollinators, a citizen-led group she co-founded ​in 2015. One of Carlotta's greatest accomplishments was organizing a team of ultra-runners to follow the migration of the monarch butterfly from Peterborough to Macheros, Mexico in 2019. The Monarch Ultra relay run was the first-of-its-kind long distance marathon that crossed three countries and partnered with dozens of conservation organizations and municipalities to raise awareness for environmental action. Carlotta will bring the same commitment and proven leadership as she elevates the ideas and needs of her constituents in Northcrest Ward and as City Councillor.
